Harpers Ferry

On Saturday we took a little day trip to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.  It's only about 50 miles about here.  I went there with my BYU intern group a few years ago, but we only stopped there for a couple hours and I didn't really take the time to learn the significance of why we were there (I think all I really did was get ice cream!)

Anyways, it is a cool little town that has been restored to what it looked like during Civil War times.  The Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers meet up there and there is a lot of historical significance, especially during the Civil War.  Nolan was really good while we were there.  He loves to get out of the house.  Here are some pictures of our day.  We're hoping to do lots of little day trips the next couple months-- there's so much to do back east!!

John Brown's fort during his raid.

Where the rivers meet up-- they were so muddy from all the rain we've gotten recently.

Walking across the bridge.

Cute little town.

Can I have some, Dad?

Yeehaw!

Also, Justin's parents came out for a visit last week.  It was so good to see them.  We went to a baseball game on Friday night.  The Giants were actually in town which was kind of fun.  Nolan and I were cheering for the Nationals though and they won!
