Start...Your...ENGINES!!!

We went to the NASCAR race here in Phoenix last Saturday and it was quite the experience! Neither of us really care about NASCAR, but we just thought it would be fun to see what it's like. It was SOOO much louder and the cars drove SOOO much faster than I even imagined.

Apparently the cheaper seats at NASCAR are the ones closest to the track. We were pretty darn close which made it kind of hard to see the full track, but we got to see the cars go right by us. The cars drive a couple times around the track before the race officially starts. I thought they were going pretty fast on those laps but it was crazy when it started! I could not believe how fast they were going. We didn't bring any ear plugs but we bought some literally within a couple minutes of the race starting-- it was that loud. It's kind of funny because you can't even hear the person next to you, so everyone just sits there quietly throughout the race for the most part.

You would think NASCAR would be pretty simple to understand but I was totally clueless. They have a screen that tells you the number of the car that's leading the race but the cars were going by so fast I couldn't see any numbers. We had no idea what was going on-- we just sat there quietly watching the cars go by. When the race was over we still didn't even know the name of the guy who won! Here is a video that Justin took (please ignore me at the beginning):

I don't think that we're going to be huge NASCAR fans anytime soon but it was a fun experience and I would definitely recommend doing it once in your life. Here are some other pictures we took:
